Reviews and Rating Info

Review Structure

All of my reviews, at least for the majority of my time writing them, come in the following structure:

  1. The Premise

    1. Here I detail the basis behind the game, the jumping off point. Occasionally I’ll detail the lead in to where the game actually starts so you can get the feel for what’s about to happen without any spoils

  2. The Good

    1. As the section suggests, here I detail everything I liked about the game. This can range from small details to large.

  3. The Bad

    1. In characteristic yin-yang fashion, this section details everything I didn’t like about the game. The problems are sometimes nitpicking and other times are fundamental problems with it.

  4. The Ending - Detailed

    1. This is definitely the section you should skip if you want no spoilers. Here I detail the ending in full and is where I try to keep all my spoilers, preferring to allow you, the reader, to skip over them if wanted.

  5. The Ending - Reaction

    1. Here I simply give my thoughts on the ending. There will occasionally be a spoiler here or there in older reviews but I’m very careful in things later than Spring 2025.

  6. The Conclusion

    1. This is where I sum up all that I experienced and try to describe the overarching feeling of what it was like to sit through the game. Then I score it and sometimes say what kind of mindset you need to go into the game with.

Ratings System

Yes I hated Kingdom Hearts 2.

I have a very on brand rating system, I use a cat paw. It is out of 4 and here is what each number means:

  1. Don’t play this game, not even worth it on a sale.

  2. It’s okay, play it if you’ve been craving something similar to it.

  3. Damn good game, had some big flaws but you should probably play it.

  4. Amazing game. While it is not perfect, the issues are small.

Important note about the Rating System: I believe no game is perfect and that the out of 10 system implies that 10s are perfect, but literally no game can achieve that. Essentially, I simplified the out of 10 system to the out of 4 system I have so that all of the numbers get used. To avoid the game critic issues where a 7/10 is the worst possible score a game can get. I believe my system provides a score that is better representative of whether a game is worth playing, whether a game is fun, whether a game is worth your investment even with the issues the game has.
