Linux is still a bit of a mystery to me, but I have been using the desktop function on my Steamdeck more and more this past year for non day job projects, using open source programmes like Kdenlive, GIMP, and Audacity and I'm absolutely loving how utilitarian they are (not to mention free!!) its a breath of fresh air after being stuck in the windows ecosystem for so many years.
Been considering Linux for a while, and this might be what gets me to install it! But not yet. First I need to read your history of queerness in games!
I love the idea that sometime in the future windows won’t be necessary for games. Also thanks for sharing some info about your other lives. Always interesting to hear
We are soooo close to that future, if some more developers actually start to look at Linux as a viable alternative then we can actually have native Linux builds instead of Steam running the Windows build with some help from other software. I think the biggest thing that could contribute to getting rid of Windows for games is just getting rid of kernel level anti-cheat. That would help a ton for a lot of really popular games.
